The Segway Navimow Robotic Mower Is Coming, Filling a Void in the Market

Our Segway Navimow review tells you what to expect when this robotic mower hits the market

July 22, 2024

Every day, robotic mowers are gaining more and more traction across the world (and especially in the US) as an alternative to traditional lawn care. Of course, the market responds to this increased demand by supplying new models. One of the latest is the Segway Navimow.

We here at Autmow don’t necessarily discuss every new model released. If we are being honest, many are by new companies relying on crowdfunding, and we aren’t sure if the product will ever be released to the public. If so, we don’t know the quality.

But the Segway Navimow robotic mower is different.  It comes from a more established company, and we already know that it meets our quality standards.

However, one of the biggest reasons we get excited about the Navimow is because it fills a hole in the market. Segway bills the Navimow as a more affordable option and designed for smaller lawns. A mower that opens up the world of robotic mowers for even more people? We’re always here for that.

Below, we will lay out some of the essential information to know about the Segway Navimow. (We are focusing on the i-series because that is the model that is being released soon in the US.) We will discuss the price, some of the features we like, and what users in the robotic mower industry are saying about this robotic mower model.

Buckle up, kids. There are some ups and downs to the Segway Navimow, and we are going to explore it all.

Segway Navimow Price

The Navimow’s price point is one of its main claims to fame. As we pointed out in our blog post about affordable robotic mowers, the prices on autonomous lawn mowers have started to go down recently. However, the Segway Navimow is the first to come in below $1,000. That’s right: the i105N is only $999.99. Even the other Segway Navimow model, the i110N, is only $1,299.99.

Of course, this lower price point is partially a reflection of the fact that the Segway Navimow is only meant for smaller, relatively flat properties. The i105N covers ⅛ of an acre, while the i110N covers ¼ of an acre. Each is designed for a maximum slope of 16°. If you have a larger area, could you run multiple Navimows? You absolutely could. However, most people prefer sticking with just one machine. Thus, the Navimow is not the right fit for everyone.

Still, overall, we love the fact that Segway has brought the Navimow to market. Traditionally, people who have smaller lawns or more limited budgets have been unable to use a robotic mower. We are excited to see the technology become more inclusive.

Navimow Features

Of course, when something is offered at a lower price point, consumers naturally get a little suspicious. If it’s less expensive, does that mean it’s not very good? With the Segway Navimow, however, the lower price point is only because of the limited coverage area and the inability to take on steep slopes. The Navimow still has all the features that you expect from the best robotic mowers. In fact, it even offers a few advancements over others. Here are a few features we especially love:

  • No boundary wire
  • RTK + Vision tech working together
  • Extremely quiet (all robotic mowers are quiet, but the Segway Navimow is virtually silent)
  • AI (this helps detect common objects left in the yard and decides how to handle them; it also assists in mapping boundaries)
  • Ride-on Boundary setting (this let the mower straddle the boundary between grass and any non-grass areas that are even with the lawn, such as sidewalks and driveways)

We like the last two features a lot because the Segway Navimow can cut even closer to boundaries and obstacles than most competitors. In our Sunseeker Orion X7 review, we mentioned how wowed we were that it could give such a clean shave, so to speak. We hadn’t seen a mower that could do that as well before. Well, now we have.  The Segway Navimow gives the Orion X7 a run for its money in that regard. (And can even cause some robot envy, as Maximus-CZ points out in this Reddit thread.)

Segway Navimow Reviews

As you can tell from the Reddit thread we posted above, users are generally pleased with the Navimow. Almost all users report that the mower itself is high-quality, and they find the features really beneficial.

That said, not all customers are thrilled (because, really, when are ALL customers happy with something?!?!?!) The three most common complaints are as follows:

  1. People wish the mower covered more ground or steeper slopes.
  2. The software (both the mower and the app) can be buggy sometimes.
  3. Segway’s robotic mower customer service is not as helpful as they would wish.

However, we would put a few caveats on those complaints:

  1. Segway does not hide that fact. Indeed, it’s a big part of the marketing!
  2. Most of the complaints we have found to that effect (such as this Reddit thread and this video) are actually referring to the H series, not the new i series of the Segway Navimow. We like the fact that Segway actually listened to that feedback and made improvements to their product. But certainly, some bugginess still remains. We hope that the Navimow gets better and better over time.
  3. Unfortunately, the customer service experience at robotic mower manufacturers can be hit or miss. This is one reason why you shouldn’t buy a robotic mower at a big retailer. If you buy from a specialty dealer like Autmow, we can help troubleshoot with you. And if you do need support from Segway (e.g. a return), we will help you through that process.

When Will the Navimow Be Available?

This innovative robotic mower is available right now! You can now shop for all things Segway Navimow here at Autmow.

Overall, we are excited about what the Navimow brings to the robotic mower industry. We like the innovative features it offers and how it allows even more people to discover the joys of autonomous mowing. Certainly, Segway still has some kinks they are working on, but we expect the product to only get better from here (and it’s already at a really strong baseline!)
