If it’s not already clear, let’s make it clear: we at Autmow care deeply about the environment. After all, that’s a big reason why we are in the robotic lawn care industry. Traditional lawn care equipment is not good for the environment. It contributes noxious pollution to the air. It compacts soil. It doesn’t mulch as well. We could go on.
But at Autmow, we actually take it one step further than just selling eco-friendly equipment. Our Roots for Change program is also helping the environment by planting one tree for every robotic mower we sell.
Read on, and we will tell you all about a program that we are very proud of!
What Is the Autmow Roots for Change Program?
Our Roots for Change program is pretty straightforward. We partner with DigitalHumani, who in turn partners with One Tree Planted. Thanks to these partnerships, for every piece of robotic property maintenance equipment that we sell, we plant a tree. So far, we have especially been supporting reforestation efforts in Idaho.
Obviously, the most common product we sell are robotic mowers. In fact, to date, Autmow (along with our network of professional robot lawn care installers) have sold close to 1,200 robotic mowers. That’s a lot of trees getting planted! And we are only getting started. We’re happy to work with DigitalHumani to facilitate having our trees planted at reforestation projects in the US.
Why Did We Develop Roots For Change?
One of the major benefits of robotic mowers is how they are so much better for the environment than traditional lawn care equipment. This Washington Post article lays out why in more depth, but here are a few highlights:
- Robotic mowers do not emit carbon monoxide into the atmosphere, while traditional mowers do so at a very high rate.
- Traditional lawn care equipment consume a lot of gasoline, and robotic lawn care equipment uses none.
- Robotic mowers create healthier grass than traditional solutions.
- Autonomous mowers create better water runoff than gas-powered mowers.
Plus, as this article describes, robotic mowers lead to wildlife preservation and reduced waste.
In fact, traditional lawn mowing is so bad for the environment that California is banning the sale of gas-powered lawn equipment starting in 2024.
How Does this Relate to Tree Planting?
We decided that since we were already helping to heal the earth by selling robotic mowers, we wanted to double our efforts and help even more. We will let our friends at One Tree Planted lay out the benefits of planting trees in depth. However, the bottom line is that the Roots for Change program helps the Earth by
- Cleaning our air
- Providing habitat for a diverse range of animals
- Cooling the Earth
- Preventing floods and landslides
Besides all of this, trees also help to keep our water supply intact and cleaner. So yes, if we can be part of this great effort with our Roots of Change program, we are happy to do it.
Want to Learn More about Roots for Change?
If you want to know more about Roots for Change, you can contact us at any time. We are proud of what we have done for the planet and would love to discuss it more. After all, we call the program “Roots for Change” for a reason. Our contribution is just the beginning. It will take all of us working together to grow these roots into a fully blossoming movement.
